She drew back; he was calm;

She drew back; he was calm;

The blade swam between them,
Swirling in its own current.
She caught it with her hands.
Like a salmon darting upstream,
It leapt into her chest, a crest.

First line is from Robert Frost’s The Subverted Flower. Last month was NaPoWriMo, and this was the challenge for Day 1. This was the only thing I managed to write for the whole month. But it’s also the first poem I’ve ever written! Not including the unmentionables from my high school days. Maybe I’m not as hopeless as I think I am.

A lack of effort

I’m finally well again since last week, but I’ve been anything but productive, it’s sad and frustrating. I guess I may deserve a break since getting sick, but actively not working towards any of my year goals makes me feel real low. I could do more, and I should do better.

Sick like woahh

Look at my sick face. I’ve been dealing with an on and off fever as well as a sore throat and congestion from having too much fun over the past week. I’m at least a bit better now, thanks to meds and my doting boyfriend. Here’s to hoping I’ll be better tomorrow.

Zzzzzz

I’m home from a full day of being out, melting in the heat, walking and walking, and driving. I’m beyond tired and somewhere along the way, I lost my voice to a sore throat. A week of being the driver/chaperone to my cousins has come to an end, and I’m looking forward to just kicking it and having a lazy Saturday with Pepito (until the evening, where we’ll be playing laser tag with friends).

I’ve had the joy of eating at The Burger Project a few times already and I don’t think I’m ever going to get tired of stuffing my face here. I promised my cousins Christine and Angela I’d take them here, and since my brother Jeth is currently visiting us from Hawaii, I took it as the best chance to just take everyone there in one go.

Though the place is a bit small and parking is a bitch, we were lucky to get there while it was relatively empty. Pepito and I had to explain the ordering process: being given a checklist/order form and simply checking off what you wanted in your burger. At one point Angela sobbed and exclaimed “I CAN’T DO THIS, IT’S TOO OVERWHELMING.” I laughed. But I knew the feeling.

We also explained that there were template burgers that they could order but NOPE they were having none of that. Eventually we finally ordered and sat down to wait.

This milkshake is THE BEST. I saw the milkshake gods, when I drank it. And it’s only P150. I have dreams about this milkshake. /obsess

The chili cheese fries were pretty good, too, but merely served as a distraction from our burgers. Which, finally arrived.

Of course, my burger was the best. (Angus patty, sesame seed bun, lettuce, tomato, white onion, cheddar cheese, chili con carne, bacon.) We spent the next half hour or so applying these babies to our faces. Amazing.

In the end, all we were left with were mounds of used paper towels and the heavy feeling of satisfaction in our stomachs. The best part of it was that my brother paid for everything! Thanks bro, you’re such a bro. <3

This place is a definite must-try. For one, nothing beats the novelty of being able to ‘design your own burger’. Since you get to choose what goes into your burger, you also get to control how much you’re going to spend. The only thing difficult about eating here is table space and parking spaces. While there are tables outside, there are about only 5 tables inside. As for parking, there are only two slots outside the restaurant. If you’re planning on going, either come at an off-peak hour or get ready to hunt for a distant parking spot and wait for space.

Family Time

Sometimes, I feel sorry for my car, because I never clean it.

In other news, my brother is visiting from Hawaii and we’ve been hanging out/learning to get tired of one another again over the past two weeks. Shenanigans have been had, and will continue until mid April. :D
